Summary

Two moms as opposite as a Happy Meal and a quinoa bowl。 What a difference a week makes in a heartfelt, laugh-out-loud novel by the Washington Post bestselling author of The Overdue Life of Amy Byler

Celeste Mason is the Pinterest stay-at-home supermom of other mothers’ nightmares。 Despite her all-organic, SunButter-loving, free-range kids, her immaculate home, and her volunteering awards, she still has time to relax with a nice glass of pinot at the end of the day。 The only thing that ruins it all is her workaholic, career-obsessed neighbor, who makes no secret of what she thinks of Celeste’s life choices every chance she gets。

Wendy Charles is a celebrated productivity consultant, columnist, and speaker。 On a minute-by-minute schedule, she makes the working-mom hustle look easy。 She even spends at least one waking hour a day with her kids。 She’s not apologizing for a thing。 Especially to Celeste, who plays her superior parenting against Wendy whenever she can。

Who do Celeste and Wendy think they are? They’re about to find out thanks to one freaky week。 After a neighborhood potluck and too much sangria, they wake up—um, what?—in each other’s bodies。 Everything Celeste and Wendy thought they knew about the “other kind of mom” is flipped upside down—along with their messy, complicated, maybe not so different lives。

It’s just a run of bad luck。 I refuse to worry。

Light hearted is what I expected, a beach read, but this book was more than that。 I'd give it 3。5 stars as it covered a lot of subjects in an unusual way, but one that worked。Picture two mothers, stay at home mom of 3 and busy business owner mom of 2, having to deal with each other while each can't stand the other or the lifestyle the other has chosen。 Then add some exotic vodka and the next morning they find they are now inhabiting the body of the other。 (I don't think that is giving anything a Light hearted is what I expected, a beach read, but this book was more than that。 I'd give it 3。5 stars as it covered a lot of subjects in an unusual way, but one that worked。Picture two mothers, stay at home mom of 3 and busy business owner mom of 2, having to deal with each other while each can't stand the other or the lifestyle the other has chosen。 Then add some exotic vodka and the next morning they find they are now inhabiting the body of the other。 (I don't think that is giving anything away, given the title。) How they handle it is sometimes a little off to me (the flour?) but we do handle problems differently, which is why I would suggest this to my students。 What is right for one person might not work for another, but there is no one right way; it is whatever works for us。 Creative way of putting yourself in someone else's shoes and making us see things in a different light。 I think it makes us more tolerant of others and was done tastefully。Nice job by the author and I will look forward to more of her books。Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion 。。。more

Good readI was afraid this as gonna be one of those typical body switching books。 It was but I love how it was written and that made it quite interesting。 I loved the characters in this book。 It started out a little bit slow but by the time the switching occurred it got really interesting and I like the way it ended。

Slow and meanIt's hard to rate this book given the lead characters actions。 Wendy and Celeste are judgmental moms who have a lot of anger at society's decisions for those in the role。 While both are snobby, Wendy is downright caustic。 She does nothing but belittle Celeste's decisions as a mom。 And some plots felt a lot like Nick Alexander's Bottle of Tears, another book that I didn't care for。 As for a plot, it's not just suspending disbelief, it's using a whole SFX studio to create a story more Slow and meanIt's hard to rate this book given the lead characters actions。 Wendy and Celeste are judgmental moms who have a lot of anger at society's decisions for those in the role。 While both are snobby, Wendy is downright caustic。 She does nothing but belittle Celeste's decisions as a mom。 And some plots felt a lot like Nick Alexander's Bottle of Tears, another book that I didn't care for。 As for a plot, it's not just suspending disbelief, it's using a whole SFX studio to create a story more complex than Dr。 Who canon。 Ultimately, there are too many elements and side plots while oddly meandering through them all。 It's hard to like a single decision either woman makes。I loved Wife Swap back in the day。 And Freaky Friday。 But this doesn't really hit either center point。 I had so many positive hopes after the book community hyped it up。 Not a winner。 Also the sheer amount of body shaming was a choice。 Not a good one。 But nonetheless。 。。。more

46% into it and I just don’t care。 Maybe it’s because I’m not a mom, I dunno。

This was just such an enjoyable read -- a Freaky Friday for grownups。

Classic light summer reading。 This book knows that it is silly and goes ahead anyway。 It was mostly predictable but amusing。

I literally almost DNF'd this book as I was SO MAD about one character deciding to wean the other character's daughter from breastfeeding。 Regardless of your opinion on the matter, that is a decision between parent and child and has nothing to do with the silliness of this book。 Cold turkey weaning as well fails to take into consideration the massive hormonal changes that occur when you finish breastfeeding and there was zero mention made of the potential for mastitis occurring。 I was quite angr I literally almost DNF'd this book as I was SO MAD about one character deciding to wean the other character's daughter from breastfeeding。 Regardless of your opinion on the matter, that is a decision between parent and child and has nothing to do with the silliness of this book。 Cold turkey weaning as well fails to take into consideration the massive hormonal changes that occur when you finish breastfeeding and there was zero mention made of the potential for mastitis occurring。 I was quite angry about it 。。。more

Delightful, funny, heartwarming! This book was such a lovely escape from the darker books I normally read。 The characters couldn’t be anymore different yet deep down, first and foremost, they are mothers。 I think any mother at any age can relate to these characters which is what makes them so loveable。 I couldn’t help but chuckle at some of the things they said and did but then a few pages later I could have cried with them in frustration。 This book may have a storyline that has been used numero Delightful, funny, heartwarming! Excellent book!Wow! What an intriguing plot! All humans think they want what they do not have; Envy, lust, ego are just a few of the feelings that drive many humans to search。 This book is a humorous rendition of this search。 I love the results of this particular search!

Important things in lifeA neat lesson on the important things of life。 Sometimes it helps to view life from another perspective and what better way than to switch bodies with someone who is considered an adversary, someone that you feel is nothing like you。

An easy summer read。 What you might expect from a working mum/stay at home mum body swap。 Liked the 2 women which was a bonus。

Sweet story; wise messageKelly Harms has told a sweet story underscored by a solid message about the choices we make as women , wives and mothers。 We are also friends, employers and employees。。。and in each of those roles -- and the way we choose to combine them -- our lives and lifestyles are defined。 Bottom line: There is no right way, and no single definition for success。 And hence no reason to present or disrespect the choices that anyone else makes。

3。5 stars I enjoyed this。 I love the fact we get both POVs and you can really see where each character is coming from, especially with the topic of motherhood and the whole stay at home vs working mother, Harms is exploring。 In terms of characters, I liked and found Wendy's story more interesting and compelling though I did like Celeste and she really grew on me。 (I did think she was slightly overboard at first, not as much as Wendy though!) Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC。 Celeste, a stay at home mom who fills in all the gaps of working moms, feeds her kids only organic food and no brain rotting tv vs。 Wendy, a full time working mom who feeds her kids school lunches and fast food and barely holding it together。 After competing on who can make the best sangria for the school fundraiser, they wake up the next day in each other's bodies and lives。 It is an age old story that has been told many times over so it was highly predictable。 Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC。 Celeste, a stay at home mom who fills in all the gaps of working moms, feeds her kids only organic food and no brain rotting tv vs。 Wendy, a full time working mom who feeds her kids school lunches and fast food and barely holding it together。 After competing on who can make the best sangria for the school fundraiser, they wake up the next day in each other's bodies and lives。 It is an age old story that has been told many times over so it was highly predictable。 However, it a great reminder that you should always give other moms some slack not knowing any of their situation。 We should be a team and cheerleaders for each other, not enemies。 Started slow but ended on a great note! #thesevendayswitch #kellyharms #july2021 。。。more

Fun and PhilosophicalAn enjoyable read that covers the dichotomy between the working woman with kids and the housewife with kids, providing justification for both, for people to determine the way that is best for them。

Freaky Friday mom switch。 Everyone learns something。 I’m not sure why I didn’t like it so much。 Some bias against the working mom and her life choices maybe。 Read it for superficial fluffy laughs, it’s entertaining。

this was average at best。 it’s a freaky friday type scenario and i quickly realized that that works better for me in a visual format because i never quite got the hang of who’s body we were in or whose mind we were in and it got very confusing。 the premise was good, like any other freaky friday esque story about understanding other people and not thinking you’re better than them, but it fell flat for me。

I loved this。

The Best Book of the Summer!Celeste and Wendy can’t seem to see eye-to-eye on parenting, husbands, or how each other live their life in general, until…。This is about that neighbor you can’t tolerate because you’ve never taken the time to really get to know them。 It is a laugh-out-loud sojourn into the lives of two neighbors。 Once you are immersed in the story, you won’t be able to put it down!

I love a good story about moms, their lives, and their troubles。 In The Seven Day Switch I got two moms, and I loved it! What makes it even better is that it turns into a body-switch story, so it’s got a bit of a fantasy aspect to it。I enjoyed both of the main characters in this story。 Wendy is a working mom trying to bust her butt to get everything done。 I felt for her, I connected to her, and I thought, oh she’s going to be the one I know and understand。 And yet, when I met Celeste, I kind of I love a good story about moms, their lives, and their troubles。 In The Seven Day Switch I got two moms, and I loved it! So you think your life is the way life should be lived! It was a really good story about what happens when two very different lives are switched。 It rally gives a different perspective。 What I didn't like was the amount of drinking that went on--however it is what makes the story possible。 Read it and see if you see just a little of yourself in one or another --Wendy or Celeste。 So you think your life is the way life should be lived! It was a really good story about what happens when two very different lives are switched。 It rally gives a different perspective。 What I didn't like was the amount of drinking that went on--however it is what makes the story possible。 Read it and see if you see just a little of yourself in one or another --Wendy or Celeste。 。。。more

Funny, smart and uplifting This book made me laugh out loud, made me smile and made me cry。 A great story about acceptance and friendship, and grace and understanding。 I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends! I very rarely give this rating, even for my favorite authors but this one I couldn’t put down。 Enjoy!

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did。 I thought it would be very similar to freaky Friday and not very original, but I was wrong。 The message of the book was really relatable and even though I’m not a mom, I still felt connected to these mom’s stories。 The ending caught me off guard and kept me turning those pages!
